Whispering Roses

 Print Profile

For the past nine years, Whispering Roses has delighted audiences at
weddings, banquets, festivals, and concerts throught the Northwest, with their unique blend of Celtic, sacred, classical and folk music.  Mellow and sweet one moment, and breaking into lively dance tunes the next, Whispering Roses creates a rich tapestry of Celtic sounds.

The four Bisceglia sisters, Sarah, piano and vocals, Janna, harp, bodhran, vocals, Krista, recorders, vocals and Kathrina, violin, mandolin, vocals-- form the core of the band, and are sometimes joined by their brother Noah on guitar.  They each began music lessons at the age of three, and grew up playing and singing together.

Whispering Roses debuted in the Portland music scene in 2004 when they were first invited to perform at The Grotto's Christmas Festival of Lights, the largest Christmas choral festival in the area.  Their distinctive instrumentation was a refreshing change of pace for the festival and have been invited to return each year since.  Whispering Roses has steadily gained a following, playing standing-room-only concerts throughout the Portland Metro area.

As the band of siblings has grown musically, released three CD's, and crafted their sound into a pleasing mix of melting ballads and toe-tapping instrumentals, they have been invited farther afield.  They have garnered notice at the Highland Games in Enumclaw, Washington, the Seattle Northwest Folklife Festival, and were invited to the Bitterroot Scottish Irish Festival in Montana for three consecutive years.

At home in Portland, Whispering Roses is sought-after for weddigns, private parties and corporate events, wherever live music would enhance the atmosphere.  They are polished, professional, easy to work with, and sincere about helping you find the perfect music for your event.  These dynamic musicians continue to capture the heart of every audience for which they perform.

They are available in various combinations including Duo, Trio, Quartet and Soloist.  Sarah can provide an electronic keyboard if the venue doesn't have an acoustic piano.  They can wear Scottish kilts when playing Scotch/Irish music, and Renaissance costumes when the music is appropriate.

                          What their clients say:

"Whispering Roses brought a youthful exuberance that was refreshing and authentic.  Earnest and passionate, in their abilities, their four-part music was a compelling background and solid backbone for a beautiful ceremony."

"I have enjoyed Whispering Roses at weddings, concerts, and private gatherings.  They bring a complete professionalism to all their engagements.  I highly recommend Whispering Roses and trust that you will be as charmed and delighted as we were."

"What a blessing you have been to our family.  We thank you all for your time and hard work involved in playing for David and Keslie's wedding!  Countless comments have been heard about the beauty of that music.  We realize it took much planning and practice to make it all happen!  We thank you all.  What a memorable occasion it was indeed!

                                                                  With Love, The C Family
