Aaron Meyer

Violinist

Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer's musical diversity is evident in that he has performed for world leaders and dignitaries as well as held solo appearances with major U.S. orchestras and ballet companies. He has opened and/or performed with several major artists and bands, including the Platinum selling rock band Everclear, Smokey Robinson, Pink Martini, Leftover Salmon, The Temptations, the 2002 Miss America Katie Harman and Aaron Neville. He has performed internationally in concert halls around the world, at major sporting events such as the NBA Western Conference Finals and at a special appearance at the United Nations as well as the 1999 World Peace Conference.

Debuting with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 11, Aaron began studying the violin when he was five years old with his father. His studies continued with Luis Biava, the associate conductor with the Philadelphia Orchestra and also at Indiana University with Yuval Yaron, a student of Jascha Heifetz. Upon graduation from Lewis and Clark College in 1995, a year of edifying travel throughout the remote regions of Asia aided Aaron in enhancing his creativity.

In the past few years, Aaron's musical portfolio and demand as an artist has grown significantly. Most recently as an arranger and recording artist, Aaron was selected to compose string parts and record for Everclear's upcoming record release. Aaron has performed on numerous albums including Pink Martini's Sympathique. Other recordings include scores for Microsoft commercials and a nationally televised PBS Frontline special, The Execution. Aaron also participated in the soundtrack for a PBS Holocaust documentary and educational piece, Two Men One Message. In January and May of 1999, Aaron performed songs from one of his first projects, Seasons of Peace, at a World Peace Conference held at the United Nations in New York and at the 1999 World Peace Conference held in The Hague, Holland.

Aaron's first solo CD, Near The Edge, features Aaron's original music that fuses classical and rock styles of music. This CD was released through six live solo performances after the Oregon Ballet Theatre commissioned Aaron to compose original music for their production Dance Near The Edge at the Keller Auditorium in Portland. On May 15, 2001, Aaron premiered a newly commissioned work for the visit of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama to Portland, Oregon at Memorial Coliseum. Also in May 2001, Aaron held a production of music and dance, entitled A Night In Venice. In December, he released his second CD, "A Winter's Dance", in conjunction with his holiday production, "Holiday in Tibet: Music From Around the World."
As a result of producing three full-scale multi-visual productions of music, theatre, and dance this last year, Aaron premiered his latest production, his largest and most expansive show yet. Iniziare, presented by KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8, K103 and 1190 KEX, is the ultimate expression of Aaron and music collaborator Bill Lamb. An eight-show production held at Portland's Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom featured Aaron's ten-piece band as he and guitarist/songwriter Bill Lamb released their latest CD, Iniziare. This record clearly defines their unique style of high-energy Classical Crossover, combining classical, rock, world, and pop styles of original music.

In charitable contributions, Aaron's innovative Classroom Music Project (CMP), now in its third season, an extensive artist-in-residence program cross-disciplining academic curriculum, music composition, cutting-edge recording technology, production, and performance, allows Aaron to work with students of all ages. Each year, Aaron visits over 10 elementary schools around the Pacific Northwest assisting thousands of students in creating CDs of student-written songs that are released at student benefit concerts for music education in collaboration with the Portland Schools Foundation and Portland State University. In addition to this program, producer Tim Ellis and Aaron offer high school students opportunities to work in Oregon's finest recording studio for an educational recording workshop in an exciting new offshoot called CMP Bands.
