Clarinetist, Jim Beatty is a highly renowned jazz soloist and bandleader who has performed around the world, including in China, Scotland, Wales, England, Canada, and other parts of Europe. A protege of jazz pioneer Omer Simeon, Jim Beatty has been making music for over fifty years. He has played with bands such as The Wolverine Jazz Band, Murphy Campo & The Jazz Saints, The Salt City Six, The Turk Murphy Jazz Band, "Wild Bill" Davison, Monte Ballou's Castle jazz Band, and many, many more. After a recent performance, the London Times said, "It was a grand discovery to hear clarinetist Beatty...He plays with a broad tone emphasizing the lower and middle registers with a mixture of Creole delicasy and fiery imagination". Jazz Scene Magazine once said, "Jim Beatty plays a magical clarinet. He offers a "tour de force" in style and technique with solos that speak of the great New Orleans players. His playing brings back that inspired abandonment of jazz's forefathers..he should be included among the greatest soloists of the decade." Jan Scobey's Hot Jazz Magazine: "the eminent jazz soloist of the 21st century". |
