Peter Yeates is a veteran singer/songwriter/guitarist from Dublin Ireland. He has toured the United states and Canada extensively and has also performed in Germany Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Romania, Russia, Mexico, Bermuda, Korea and his native Ireland. He has toured with some notable musicians including James Kelly (Planxty, Patrick Street), Noel Hill (Planxty), Tommy Hayes (Stockton's Wing) and accordion player Paddy O'Brian. Ken Larson began playing bodhran in the early 80's in Minnesota, where he played for ten years as the lead singer in Gallowglass Irish Trio. Since moving to Oregon in the 90's, he has become one of the busiest, most in-demand bodhran players because of his inventive and unique playing style. He's performed, toured and recorded with Peter Yeates as a Duo for nearly a decade, and has also played with many of the other top Celtic groups in the area. Bass, pipes player, and recording studio owner, Rob Barrick moved to Portland in 1983 and played in several rock bands before collaborating with Peter Yeates to form Full Shilling, a Celtic fusion group with Rob McKendrick, Eddie Parente, and Steve Mulligan. They played at some the larger Celtic festivals in the USA including Milwaukee Irish Fest. He is also a member of the contra dance band Pied a Terre, and is founding member of Raven. Rob is an approved adjudicator through the BC Pipers Assn and is in demand for dance competitions including North West Regional Championships. Fiddler, Eddie Parente is originally from New Jersey, and has lived in Boston, MA, where he played in a Mexican Mariachi Band while studying Classical Indian Music with Tabla master Shashi Nayak, attending Irish Traditional Music sessions, and playing in an International folk dance band. While living in North Carolina, he joined, recorded and toured the USA, Canada, England, Spain with the Irish/Canadian/American folk grop Touchstone. Since moving to Portland, he continues to play and record with a wide variety of musical groups, playing Classical music in several Symphonies, Everything's Jake swing band, country and Celtic bands, and The Trail Band, best described as an 8-pc folk orchestra. In May 2006, he and 3 members of The Trail Band made a rare 10-day tour to Pyongyang, North Korea to play in the 24th Annual Spring Art and Friendship Festival, sponsored by Mercy Corps. Only 200 Westerners are allowed in the Communist country every year. He has also made numerous tours to Moscow, St. Petersberg in Russia, and Krasnoyarsk, Siberia to play his original Jazz compositions, which can be heard on his CD, Touraco. |
