The Dickens Carolers are a group of four -- two men and two women. We dress in beautiful, Old English costumes dated approximately 1843, this being the year that Charles Dickens published his famous story 'A Christmas Carol". The women's dresses are full and flowing, one in red velvet and one in green. The men look dashing in tails and top hats, with matching red and green vests and ties. In the true, spirit of the day, all our music is unaccompanied, yet sung in four-part harmony. Our two hour repertoire is comprised of favorite carols, both traditional and contemporary, including "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "O Come All Ye Faithful", "O Christmas Tree", "Jingle Bells", "White Christmas", "Winter Wonderland", "Rudolph", and many, many more. Currently, we perform only during the Christmas season, sometimes beginning in October and extending into late January. Last year The Dickens Carolers performed over 200 hours of holiday music throughout the local Portland metropolitan area. What makes this possible is the fact that we have several quartets that perform simultaneously during the season. This is necessary in order to meet the demand for top-notch Christmas entertainment in the Portland area. We are proud to say that The Dickens Carolers have become something of a Northwest tradition and we truly enjoy making Christmas merry and musical. |
