Save this date for an exciting benefit concert 3-9-13...tell your friends...

Northwest Artist Management is proud to have been selected to produce and promote an exciting benefit concert on March 9, 2013 at the Aladdin Theater. The beneficiary is the School of Piano Technology for the Blind, aka, the "Piano Hospital" in Vancouver, (a 501C-3 non-profit organization).

They are the only school in the world that trains blind students and the visually impaired, older than high school,  to become piano tuners and technicians.  This allows them the dignity of earning their own living after graduation.

About 70% of the legally blind are unemployed, or under-employed.

69.6 of % of graduates of this school find careers in the music industry.

80% of students complete the 2 year program on time.

Their students come from 15 countries around the world, even from as far away as South Africa.

Graduates are able to live independent and self-sufficiant lives. The pay taxes, buy homes, and put their children through college. By comparison, many blind people rely on SSI payments. Just imagine doing your job as a blind person!

They have had 300 graduates since the school was founded by Emil Fries in 1949. Graduates perform quality tuning, regulation, and repairs to the actions, and on other working parts of both vertical and grand pianos.

The concert will feature exciting Salsa music, played by Ramsey Embick's 9pc Salsa Orchestra, "Ramsey Y Los Montunos", which appeared on a recent episode of Leverage ,the popular cable
TV show filmed in Portland, staring Timothy Hutton.  Also on the program is a sizzling salsa dance exhibition from the Gemini School of Salsa Dancing, featuring performers such as "Javier and Holly".

They are raising funds to replace an instructor, a graduate of the school himself, who is retiring, and to hire a new teacher so they can teach more students.

Tickets will be $50.00, and are tax deductable. They will be available from Ticket Tomato in December.

Greetings All!

We'd like to add the following information to our last blog about hot wedding trends in 2013:

The popular Art Deco movement in jewelry, furniture, and building design, began in earnest in the mid-1920's.

It represented "luxury, glamour, and exuberance".

It's unique features are still popular in the 21st century.

Combine Art Deco design elements into your "Great Gatsby-esq." wedding decor to create a distinctive and truly elegant ambiance!
