Tips and Advice for finding and booking wedding ceremony and reception music.

If there ever was a day to "have it your way" your wedding day is it!
Music sets the mood and ambience for the entire event so it has to be right!!

Even if you know exactly what you want, but especially if you don’t have a clue where to start, always check with a professional agency first.  They will make sure they help you find the music that fits your vision for the big day in terms of style, honoring your requests, and fitting your budget.

If the musician/band/DJ you want is already booked, or is not a good fit with your budget, a professional agency can give you fresh ideas you may not have thought of, and help you negotiate the very best price.  Be open to other choices.  This will save you lots of time and frustration!

Book as early as possible, especially if your wedding is on a Saturday between June and October.  Booking a year in advance is not unusual to secure many popular ensembles.

Booking direct will not always save you money.  Many bands and DJ’s offer an agency much  lower prices because they handle multiple inquiries, promotion, contracts and bookkeeping, including taking Visa for payment.  Therefore, quotes will usually be very competitive. The agency’s job is to facilitate all the business and details so the band can focus on the music.  Many bands only work with agencies for these reasons.

Always use a contract, and make sure it includes all the details of  date, time, location, contact information, size of ensemble, appropriate attire, payment requirements, if food is required for the band, and has an emergency clause to handle problems such as if the musician becomes ill, and will insure that a qualified sub will be provided.

Always provide cover for the musicians for outdoor weddings.  A large tree doesn’t qualify as adequate cover.  Stringed instruments are very valuable, and sensitive to extremes in temperture and humidity.  They tend to go out of tune in the heat.

The Biggest mistake bridal couples make is choosing services and vendors based solely on the price rather than on quality and experience.  If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.  You do get what you pay for.

We look forward to your questions and comments.
          Thank You!

Greetings and Happy New Year!

We are excited to be starting our new Blog feature in response to lots of questions for advice from our clients, especially those who are planning a wedding.

A few of the topics we will cover include:

   1. The most common mistake bridal clients make:  choosing vendors or services based solely on price, not quality.  A wedding is a once-in-a life-time event, so you can't do it over next year like a birthday party.  If the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Prioritize the services most important to you, and ask for advice on saving money from your vendors. Always work with professionals.  (source:  Bridal Tweet).

Other topics will include the best choices for music for outdoor weddings; Using professional vs. non-professionals and the advantages of working with OUR agency; What to plan for/how to accommodate the musicians at an outdoor wedding; how to make sure your requests will be honored; how to get the very best value for the services you want;  what to do if the band you want is already booked, and many more.

Our four top words of advice:

1.  Book as early as possible, especially if your event is on a
Saturday between June and the end of September.

2. Start On Time, especially the ceremony.

3. Always use a contract.

4. Give up on trying to "micro-manage" every minute of the day...relax and go with the flow, knowing you have hired the finest professional musicians in the area who are dedicated to working in the spirit of cooperation and graciousness, insuring your event will be the very best it can be! Even if YOU are nervous, they won't be, this is their job to give you "Peace of Mind".
